The IPL 2026 Auction is set to bring high drama and intense bidding as all 10 franchises look to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season. With several big names in the pool and sizeable purses available, the auction is expected to play a crucial role in shaping team combinations for IPL 2026.

A total of 77 slots are up for grabs across teams, with franchises collectively allowed to spend INR 237.55 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders head into the auction with the biggest purse of INR 64.30 crore and 13 vacancies to fill, including six overseas slots. Chennai Super Kings follow with INR 43.40 crore in hand and nine available positions. Both sides are expected to be aggressive as they look to plug key gaps.

The mini-auction will feature 359 players, including 244 Indians and 115 overseas cricketers. As many as 40 players have entered the highest base price bracket of INR 2 crore, with Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi the only Indian names in that category. Australian allrounder Cameron Green, who has registered as a specialist batter, is widely tipped to attract the biggest bids. He will appear in the opening set alongside Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller and Prithvi Shaw. Other players likely to spark bidding battles include Ravi Bishnoi, Liam Livingstone and several overseas all-rounders.

The final auction list also includes late additions such as Quinton de Kock, Dunith Wellalage and George Linde, who were not part of the initial longlist. The auction will begin with capped players, grouped by roles including batters, allrounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers and spinners, before moving to uncapped players. After player number 70, the accelerated auction phase will begin, with teams also given the option to recall unsold players in subsequent rounds.
