New Delhi: The ‘Delhi Chalo’ march by farmers has been temporarily halted for two days after a clash at the Khanauri protest site resulting in the death of a protester and injuries to about 12 police personnel. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the next course of action will be decided on Friday evening.

The agitation, which resumed on February 21 after a two-day pause, involves Punjab farmers demanding a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP) for crops and farm debt waiver. The pause in the protest allows farmers to review developments, particularly at the Khanauri border point where a young farmer lost his life in a clash with Haryana security personnel.

Pandher criticised the use of force by the Centre and Haryana security personnel against farmers at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders. He stated that the youth who died suffered a bullet injury to his head.

As reported by PTI, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal is assessing the situation at Khanauri, and there are allegations of Haryana security personnel entering the Punjab territory, damaging tractors, and mistreating elderly individuals.

The deceased farmer was identified as Subhkaran Singh (21) from Punjab’s Bathinda district. Medical reports indicate that three individuals, one of them deceased, were brought to Patiala-based Rajindra Hospital from Khanauri.
