Mumbai: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a prominent joint venture between steel giants ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, has appointment Dr Arvind Bodhankar as its chief sustainability officer.
In his new role, Dr Bodhankar will spearhead the sustainability initiatives for AM/NS India, concentrating on defining and executing medium and long-term strategies for decarbonisation, minimizing environmental impact and fortifying the organisation’s climate agenda.
Prior to joining AM/NS India, Dr Bodhankar served as the executive director – ESG & Chief Risk Officer at Dalmia Bharat Group. During his tenure, he took charge of sustainability and risk management functions, overseeing diverse initiatives such as renewable energy, circular economy, carbon capture and green building projects.
With a wealth of experience exceeding three decades in various manufacturing sectors, including petrochemicals, fertilisers, steel, cement and automotive, Dr Bodhankar has held leadership positions in operations, quality & quality systems, health, safety, and environment. He has also been at the forefront of driving sustainability agendas for major manufacturing companies.
Wim Van Gerven, the chief operating officer of AM/NS India, expressed confidence in Dr Bodhankar’s capabilities, and said: “Dr Arvind Bodhankar brings extensive experience and expertise in sustainability and risk management. He will be instrumental in driving the sustainability agenda forward in the company as we implement growth strategies to meet the evolving needs of the nation.”
