EZIU cricket tournament, Day 3 roundup: Utkal University, BHU post wins
Cuttack: Day 3 of the EZIU Cricket Tournament on Tuesday (Jan 13) witnessed a series of one-sided contests and standout individual performances across multiple grounds.
At Ravenshaw Ground 2, the University of North Bengal (UNB) chased down a modest target to defeat SOA University by five wickets. SOA University managed 102 for 9, which UNB overhauled by scoring 103 for 5 in 17 overs. Debojit Mukherjee led the chase with a steady 34 off 25 balls, earning the player-of-the-match honours.
In another match at the same venue, Raiganj University registered a commanding 81-run win over OUAT. Raiganj posted 157 for 8, with Swarnajit Dey scoring 44 off 31 balls. OUAT were bowled out for 76, struggling against a fiery spell from Animesh Bhowmik, who claimed 5 wickets for just 6 runs in 3.4 overs.
At the MGM Ground, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) cruised to an eight-wicket victory against Viswa Bharati Sports Board. VBU were dismissed for 56, after Neelot Palendu Pratap picked up 3 for 9. BHU reached the target comfortably at 57 for 2.
In another high-scoring game at MGM Ground, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU) produced a dominant batting display to defeat Ranchi University by 10 wickets. Ranchi posted 144 for 9, but Kritesh Sahu’s explosive unbeaten 101 off 53 balls, including nine sixes, powered PRSU to 145 without loss in just 15.3 overs.
At the Bidanasi Ground, Siddharth University hammered Aliah University by 154 runs. Siddharth posted a massive 201 for 6, driven by Parivesh Tripathi’s brilliant 106 off 56 balls. Aliah University were bundled out for just 47 in reply.
Meanwhile, the match between Sikkim University and the University of Kalyani ended in a walkover win for the University of Kalyani.
At Ravenshaw Ground 1, Utkal University secured a comfortable 10-wicket win over CU South Bihar. CU South Bihar were bowled out for 71, with Ganesh Tomar claiming 5 for 14, before Utkal University chased down 72 for the loss of one wicket.
In the same venue, Magadh University defeated KIIT by 44 runs. Magadh posted 182 for 6, while KIIT could manage only 138 for 7 in reply. Harsh Giri scored 45 off 36 balls, while Adarsh Kumar Singh picked up three wickets to seal the win.
At the Driems Ground, Hemchand Vishwavidyalay beat Rajendra University by 50 runs. Hemchand scored 177 for 9, and then restricted Rajendra University to 127 for 9, with Benudhar Seth taking three wickets.
In the final match of the day at the same ground, Munger University defeated ICFAI by 53 runs. Munger posted 150 for 9, before bowling out ICFAI for 97 for 9. Prince Kumar starred with the ball, finishing with figures of 3 for 17.
