Mumbai: Global pop icon and Grammy Award winner Enrique Iglesias set the stage ablaze in Mumbai on Sunday night with his maiden concert in the city, performing some of his biggest hits including Hero and Bailamos to the delight of thousands of fans.

The 50-year-old Spanish singer performed before an audience of over 25,000 people at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex, during a high-energy 90-minute show that blended nostalgia and excitement. This marked Iglesias’ third visit to India – after his previous trips in the early 2000s and in 2012.

Appearing on stage around 8:20 pm in his signature cap and an all-black outfit, Iglesias kicked off the night with chartbusters like Subeme La Radio, Freak, Chasing The Sun, Be With You, Heartbeat and Cuando Me Enamoro.

Greeting fans with a warm “Namaste, Mumbai, raise your hands,” he went on to perform his evergreen hits Hero, Tonight, Bailamos and Bailando. The crowd sang along in unison, creating a wave of nostalgia across the venue.

“Thank you so much, Mumbai. I came here first in 2004 – it feels amazing to be back,” said Iglesias, expressing gratitude to his fans who had travelled from across India to see him perform live.

A couple from Pune in their 50s told PTI, “We came here to relive our youth. Our daughter booked the tickets as a Diwali gift and we loved hearing our favourite songs live again.”

The concert also saw several Bollywood celebrities in attendance, including Vidya Balan, Rakul Preet Singh with husband Jackky Bhagnani, Malaika Arora, Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla, Meiyang Chang, Rahul Vaidya, Gurmeet Choudhary, Debina Bonnerjee, and Elnaaz Norouzi.

While most fans were thrilled by the performance, a few expressed disappointment over the arrangements and sound quality. “He didn’t sing it all – I’m a bit disappointed,” said one Mumbai-based fan, while another complained of traffic chaos around the venue.

Iglesias wrapped up the night with his hit number ‘Baby I Like It’, as fireworks lit up the sky, marking a spectacular end to the event.

The two-day concert series was promoted and produced by EVA Live, powered by Mastercard, with District by Zomato as the exclusive ticketing partner.
