The general manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR), Manoj Sharma, recently conducted an inspection of the under-construction rail line section between Sonepur and Boudh as part of the ongoing Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project.
Accompanied by senior officials from ECoR headquarters, project construction teams, and officials from Sambalpur Railway Division, Sharma reviewed the progress of infrastructure works. Emphasising the importance of meeting target deadlines, he advised officials to take necessary measures for the timely completion of the project.

Out of the total 301 km length of the project, 152.805 km of rail line work has been commissioned, with construction progressing from both Khurda Road and Balangir ends.
The stretch from Khurda Road to Daspalla (105.8 km) and Balangir to Sonepur (47 km) has already been completed. The remaining 73 km from Sonepur to Purunakatak is expected to be finished within the next couple of months. The target is to complete the remaining stretch from Daspalla to Purunakatak (75 km) by December 2026, ensuring the overall completion of the Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project.
