Delhi traffic advisory: Curbs in central Delhi today for Beating Retreat rehearsals
New Delhi: Commuters in the national capital are likely to face traffic diversions and restrictions on January 22 as rehearsals for the Beating Retreat ceremony are scheduled to take place at Vijay Chowk, the Delhi Traffic Police said on Wednesday.
As per the traffic advisory, Vijay Chowk will be closed to general traffic between 4 pm and 6.30 pm. In addition, vehicular movement on Raisina Road, from the roundabout near Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk, will be restricted during the rehearsal hours.
The police said vehicles will not be permitted to move beyond the roundabouts at Dara Shikoh Road, Krishna Menon Marg and Sunehri Masjid in the direction of Vijay Chowk while the rehearsal is underway. The road stretch from Vijay Chowk to Rafi Marg, leading towards the Kartavya Path crossing, will also remain closed in the evening.
To minimise inconvenience, motorists have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes. Suggested diversions include Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Madarsa T-Point, Safdarjung Road towards Kamal Ataturk Marg, Rani Jhansi Road and Minto Road.
The Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to road users to cooperate and follow on-ground instructions to ensure smooth movement during the rehearsal period.
