Couple beaten to death over alleged love affair in Etah, woman’s family members detained
Etah (Uttar Pradesh): A young woman and her alleged lover were beaten to death on Sunday night in Etah district after being caught together at her home, police said.
The incident took place in Garhiya Suhagpur village, where the woman’s family allegedly attacked the couple following a confrontation. The victims have been identified as Shivani (20), daughter of Ashok, and Deepak (25), son of Radheshyam. Both belonged to the same village and community.
According to the police, Deepak had gone to Shivani’s house around 8.30 pm to meet her. Family members reportedly found the two on the terrace in a compromising situation, which led to a violent assault. Shivani died on the spot, while Deepak sustained serious injuries and later died during treatment at the district hospital.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shyam Narayan Singh said several members of the woman’s family have been detained for questioning in connection with the double murder. He added that a forensic team has been called to the spot to collect evidence.
Station house officer (SHO) Ritesh Thakur said no formal complaint has been filed by either side so far. The bodies have been sent to Etah Medical College for post-mortem examination.
The SSP visited both the crime scene and the medical college. Police have deployed additional personnel in the village to maintain law and order and prevent any further tension.
