Col CK Nayudu Trophy: Odisha take control after mammoth 614 against Haryana

Sambalpur: Odisha tightened their grip on the Col CK Nayudu Trophy (U-23) clash against Haryana after piling up a massive 614/9 in their first innings at the Veer Surendra Sai Stadium, here on Sunday. At stumps on Day 3, Haryana were 126/4 in their second innings, still trailing by 212 runs.

Earlier in the match, Haryana were bowled out for 276 after opting to bat first. Rohan Deshwal led the charge with a fine 108 off 158 balls, striking 15 fours and two sixes, while Vivek Kumar scored a brisk 55 off 56 deliveries. For Odisha, Asutosh Marndi was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 5 for 69 in 12 overs. Ashutosh Chhuria provided good support with figures of 2 for 42.

In reply, Odisha’s batting unit delivered a dominant performance. Sujal K Singh top-scored with a splendid 156 off 163 balls, hammering 21 boundaries. He found strong support from Shreyansh Bhardwaj, who compiled 121 off 198 balls and Aashirwad Swain, who made 82 off 140 deliveries. Useful contributions also came from Om T Munde (67 off 95) and Saideep Mohapatra (65 off 111), as Odisha declared at a formidable 614/9 in 144 overs.

For Haryana, Aashirwad Sharma picked up 3 for 144 in a long 39-over spell, while Aayush Sharma (2/106) and Param Chandila (2/124) chipped in with wickets but struggled to contain the flow of runs.

Haryana began their second essay steadily and at stumps on Day 3, they reached 126/4. Yash Adhana remained unbeaten on 57 off 115 balls, and Samant Jakhar was also not out on 23. Sayed Tufayl Ahmad and Saideep Mohapatra picked up a wicket each to keep Odisha in command.
