Bengaluru gears up for new year with 10,000 CCTV cameras: Deputy CM DK Shivakumar
BENGALURU: As the city prepares to welcome the New Year, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that 10,000 CCTV cameras will be deployed across Bengaluru’s party zones and hubs on December 31 to ensure safety and order.
Addressing the media, Shivakumar emphasized that the government is closely monitoring all activities during the celebrations and warned youngsters against any behaviour that could tarnish Bengaluru’s reputation as an international city.
“Every reveller’s movement in Bengaluru is under watch, and the government will not tolerate any mischief during the celebrations,” he stated, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
The Deputy CM also clarified that the seven-day mourning period for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away on Thursday, is limited to government functions and events. Guidelines for businesses operating during the New Year festivities will be issued accordingly.
