Andhra beat Odisha by 58 runs in U23 State A Trophy clash
Vadodara: A dominant batting display by Andhra, led by a brilliant century from SDNV Prasad, powered the side to a 58-run victory over Odisha in their U23 State A Trophy (One-Day Format) match at the GSFC Cricket Ground.
Odisha won the toss and opted to field, but Andhra capitalised on the opportunity by posting a strong 302/9 in 50 overs.
Opener Prasad was the standout performer, smashing 103 off 97 balls, hitting six fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 106.19. He was well supported by M Hemanth Reddy, who contributed with a steady 65 from 92 deliveries.
Despite the high total, Odisha bowlers produced disciplined spells. Sambit S Baral picked up 3 for 47 in his 10 overs, while Badal Biswal chipped in with 2 for 40.
Chasing 303, Odisha were bowled out for 244 in 47 overs, unable to maintain the required tempo after losing wickets at regular intervals.
Opener OM T Munde top-scored with a fluent 50 off 46 balls, which included six boundaries and a six. Shreyansh Bhardwaj added 36 from 44 balls, but the middle order failed to convert starts as Andhra tightened their grip.
In the bowling department, TV Sai Sravan was the pick of the attack, returning figures of 3 for 51 from his 10 overs. P Aditya Reddy provided crucial breakthroughs with 2 for 17 in his four overs, maintaining pressure during the middle phase.
