A yellow alert warning was issued by the Odisha government on Friday in six districts, predicting heavy rainfall in the next 12 hours.
The alert has been issued in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Khodak, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts, ANI reported the office of Special Relief Commissioner as saying.
“Low pressure area now lies as a well marked low pressure area over east central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal at 11.30 hrs IST of today. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 12 hours and move west-north westwards towards Odisha coast during next 48 hours,” read a statement issued by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

This will be the sixth cyclonic circulation in the state since the last week of August. Though the formation of the system is quite common, the frequency at which they have been originating of late is very unusual, reported The Weather Channel.
