WWE Friday Night Smackdown and AEW Rampage are going head-to-head for the first time on Friday. Due to the ongoing MLB playoffs, WWE Smackdown will be airing on FS1 instead of FOX on Friday night.

For the first time in two decades, World Wrestling Entertainment has a serious competition. The new wrestling company on the block, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), over the past two years, has shined bright with their own roster, with the likes of former WWE superstars, Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, the late great Brodie Lee, CM Punk, and Bryan Danielson, along with marquee names from the world of wrestling like Kenny Omega (current AEW World Champion), Sammy Guevara, Adam Cole, and Hangman Adam Page.

AEW’s flagship show Dynamite airs on Wednesdays. But their second show, AEW Rampage, which has been airing since the past few weeks, has hit a bump.

AEW Rampage, which airs immediately after WWE’s Smackdown on the TNT Network, has dropped in ratings due to bad placement and the 10pm time slot. But this has not stopped AEW Owner Tony Khan from taking shots at WWE and their best show at this moment.

Khan has always been vocal about their product being better and even said on Twitter – “I saw you’re doing a half hour head-to-head with us. I can’t wait to finally beat your main show head-to-head. It’s been a long time coming.” This tweet came ahead of WWE announcing a two-and-a-half hour Smackdown which is 30 minutes more than their usual.

Tony Khan seems confident to go head-to-head with Smackdown, arguably the best show in professional wrestling. The AEW Rampage card has been made official with huge matches such as CM Punk against Matt Sydal and a main event bout between newly signed Bryan Danielson and Japanese Legend Minoru Suzuki.

It can clearly be seen that both companies are doing their best at booking major matches and segments for this Friday and it will be nothing but a treat for all the Pro Wrestling fans of WWE and AEW. The War on Friday Nights has begun.
