Women’s Under-19 One-Day Trophy: Parmar’s century powers Baroda to dominant win over Odisha
Thiruvananthapuram: Baroda U-19 women put up a commanding all-round performance to beat Odisha by 57 runs in their Elite Women’s Under-19 One-Day Trophy match at the KCA Cricket Ground, Mangalapuram, here on Sunday.
After Odisha won the toss and opted to field, Baroda posted a competitive 283 for 6 in 50 overs, riding on a superb unbeaten century by Vidhi H Parmar. Parmar anchored the innings with 103 not out off 89 balls, hitting 11 fours and two sixes at a healthy strike rate of 115.73. She found solid support from Maitri Maniar, who chipped in with a fluent 55 off 64 deliveries, including seven fours and a six.
For Odisha, Chhita Soren was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 2 for 44 from 10 overs, while M S Priyadarshini Pramanik also claimed 2 for 49, but the Baroda batters ensured the scoring rate never dipped.
In reply, Odisha’s chase of 284 began on a steady note, with Angel Raj leading the resistance through a determined 79 off 91 balls, studded with six fours and three sixes. Sreya Priyadarshini added a useful 44 off 58 balls, but the required run rate kept climbing as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Baroda’s bowlers kept things tight in the middle overs, with Tanvi Solanki delivering a crucial spell of 3 for 25 from six overs, including a maiden, to dent Odisha’s momentum. Maitri Maniar backed it up with a disciplined effort, returning figures of 1 for 34 from nine overs.
Odisha eventually finished on 226 for 7 in 50 overs, falling well short of the target, as Baroda sealed a comprehensive 57-run victory.
