Thiruvananthapuram: Odisha began their Women’s U23 T20 Trophy 2025–26 campaign in style, by securing a commanding 85-run victory over Sikkim at the KCA Cricket Ground in Mangalapuram on Monday.
Sent in to bat after Sikkim won the toss, Odisha posted a strong 152/4 in 20 overs, built around an unbeaten half-century from Alipsa Biswal. The opener hammered 51 off just 29 balls, striking eight fours and a six at a blistering strike rate of 175.86. She was well supported by Pujarani Das, who scored a steady 35 off 41 balls, including three fours and a six.
For Sikkim, Pretika Chettri was the standout bowler, finishing with impressive figures of 3/20 in four overs, while Niranjana chipped in with 1/21.
In response, Sikkim struggled throughout the chase and managed only 67/7 in 20 overs, falling well short of the target. Pretika Chettri top-scored with 19 off 27 balls, while Nandika added 18 off 37, but the lack of partnerships hurt their innings.
Odisha’s bowlers maintained tight control from the start. S B Lorence delivered a miserly spell, taking 2/10 in four overs, while Jyoti K Prasad also impressed with 1/12.
