Thiruvananthapuram: Odisha clinched a hard-fought 27-run victory over Baroda in their Women’s U23 T20 Trophy clash at St Xavier’s KCA Cricket Ground, here on Saturday.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Baroda kept Odisha’s scoring in check, restricting them to 94 for 9 in 20 overs. Tanmayee Behera held the innings together with a gritty 40 off 53 balls, which included four boundaries and a six. Subhra Nirjharini Swain added a valuable 23 off 27 deliveries.
For Baroda, Trisha was the standout performer with a superb spell of 4 wickets for just 12 runs in three overs. Surbhi Chauhan provided strong support, claiming 2 wickets for 8 in her four overs.
Chasing a modest target of 95, Baroda faltered early and never recovered as Odisha’s bowlers dominated. Trisha top-scored for Baroda with a steady 37 off 37 balls, but lacked partnerships at the other end as the team was bundled out for 67 in 16.2 overs.
