Woman arrested for abducting TV anchor in attempt to marry him
Hyderabad: In a bizarre turn of events, a 31-year-old businesswoman, running a digital marketing business, was apprehended by the police for allegedly stalking and kidnapping a TV music channel anchor with the intention of marrying him.
The woman reportedly discovered the TV anchor’s photos on a matrimony website and initiated a conversation with the account holder two years ago. It was later revealed that the account holder was using the TV anchor’s photo as a profile picture. She then searched through the profile and found the phone number, which belonged to the anchor.
She contacted the anchor through an instant messaging app but was informed by him that some unknown person had used his photo and created a fake account on the matrimony site, and that he had lodged a complaint in the Cyber Crime police station about it.
But the woman persisted in messaging the anchor even after he blocked her number, police said.
Determined to marry him, she resorted to extreme measures, hiring four individuals to kidnap the anchor. She also installed a tracking device on his car to monitor his movements. On February 11, the hired men kidnapped the anchor, assaulted him at the woman’s office, and only released him after he agreed to respond to her calls.
The victim, fearing for his life, reported the incident to the Uppal police station, resulting in the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to kidnapping and wrongful confinement.
Police investigations led to the arrest of the businesswoman and the four individuals involved in the abduction. The accused faces legal consequences as further investigations continue.
