Uttarakhand thrash Odisha by an innings and 105 runs in Cooch Behar Trophy

Kashipur: Uttarakhand registered a dominant victory over Odisha, winning by an innings and 105 runs in their Cooch Behar Trophy (U19) multi-day match at the Highlanders Sports Academy, here on Wednesday.

After being bowled out for 146 in their first innings on Day 1, Odisha were immediately put under pressure. Uttarakhand responded strongly, reaching 149/2 at stumps on the opening day to take a three-run lead. Rakshit Dalakoti scored a composed 64 (125 balls), while Aditya Naithani contributed an unbeaten 59 (78 balls).

On Day 2, Uttarakhand’s batting completely took control. Nishu Patel produced a brilliant unbeaten 161 (192 balls, 16 fours, 6 sixes) and Naithani continued his impressive form by scoring 104 (142 balls). Riding on their massive partnership, Uttarakhand finished Day 2 at 480/8, extending their lead to 334 runs.

Uttarakhand eventually declared at 552/9 in 145.1 overs on Day 3. Nishu Patel carried his bat for a magnificent 200* (212 balls, 18 fours, 9 sixes), while Naithani’s 104 steadied the innings. For Odisha, Sambit K Beja was the most successful bowler with 4/108 and Priyanshu Mohanty picked up 3/117.

Facing a huge deficit, Odisha were bowled out for 256 in their second innings in 66.3 overs. Biswajeet Pradhan top-scored with a fighting 45 (51 balls), supported by Sreeyanshu Pattanaik’s 39 (91 balls). But Uttarakhand bowlers maintained pressure throughout. Ayush Rawat finished with 3/87, while Dev bagged 2/38 to wrap up the win.
