Firozabad: A man has been accused of killing his 12-year-old son in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district and hiding the body inside a trunk before running away, police said on Monday.
The incident took place in Jijoli village under the Makhanpur area. The accused, identified as Rajesh, is suspected to have committed the crime amid ongoing disputes with his wife over property issues.
Police said Rajesh, who is reportedly addicted to intoxicants, often argued with his wife Urmila, a teacher at a private school. On Monday morning, Urmila left for work, leaving her husband at home with their son, Mayank.
When she returned in the afternoon, she found Rajesh missing. She also noticed bloodstains inside the house. As she began searching for her son, she discovered his body hidden inside a trunk.
Hearing her cries for help, neighbours rushed to the house and informed the police. A team reached the spot, took the body into custody and sent it to the district hospital for post-mortem.
Based on a complaint filed by Urmila, a murder case has been registered against Rajesh. Rural superintendent of police Anuj Chaudhary said initial findings suggest the boy was attacked with a sharp weapon. Police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
