Thiruvanantapuram: Mumbai secured a hard-fought 18-run victory over Odisha in their U23 Women’s T20 Trophy clash at the KCA Cricket Ground in Mangalapuram, here on Monday. After opting to bat first, Mumbai posted a competitive 140/7 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Odisha to 122/6.
Mumbai’s innings was powered by an explosive cameo from Hurley Gala, who smashed an unbeaten 30 off just 14 balls, striking four boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 214.29. Tushi Shah provided support with a handy 24 off 21 balls, helping Mumbai build momentum in the middle overs.
Odisha’s bowlers put up a disciplined effort, led by Sreya Priyadarshini, who delivered a standout spell of 4-1-19-2. Ananya Mishra chipped in with one wicket while keeping things tight from her end.
Chasing 141, Odisha relied heavily on Tanmayee Behera, who top-scored with a well-crafted 44 off 39 balls, hitting six fours. Alipsa Biswal added 38 off 39, but the lack of acceleration in the middle overs hurt Odisha’s chances as the required rate kept climbing.
Mumbai’s bowlers maintained control with Zeal D’Mello (4-0-19-2) and Kashish (4-0-21-2) delivering crucial breakthroughs at key moments.
With consistent pressure in the second half of the innings, Mumbai comfortably closed out the game to register an 18-run win.
