The Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, Haryana had always been a happy hunting ground for the bowlers, and it was no different on Wednesday in an U19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy match between Odisha and Goa.
Put in to bat first, Odisha’s batters were in all sorts of trouble with Goa’s Shiven Borkar being the wrecker-in-chief as he returned figures of 5 for 33 with Yash Kasvankar also chipping in with three scalps. Rudra Mallick scored a gritty 35 runs as Odisha managed to reach 96 all out in 33.3 overs.
The run-chase by Goa was expected to be an easy task but Piyus Mantri had other plans as he ran through the Goa lineup with six wickets by conceding only nine runs. Priyanshu Mohanty also picked two wickets as Goa were bowled out for 61 in 34.2 overs, giving Odisha a comfortable 35-run win.
