New Delhi: Traffic disruptions are anticipated at the Delhi-Noida border on February 26 as farmers announce a tractor march towards the national capital, police said.

Farmers intend to stage a protest march on tractors, taking the route via the Yamuna Expressway, Luharli toll plaza, and Mahamaya flyover on Monday. Delhi Police has responded by intensifying checks at the border, putting up barricades and causing heavy traffic at the Chilla border from Delhi towards Noida.

Gautam Buddh Nagar Police disclosed plans for thorough checking by both Delhi Police and district police, deploying barriers at all border points between the national capital and Noida. Traffic diversions will be enforced based on the evolving situation, as reported by PTI.

The ongoing farmers’ protest has already impacted traffic at the Singhu and Tikri border points connecting Delhi and Haryana. Authorities recently partially reopened these points, which were sealed nearly two weeks ago due to the farmers’ “Delhi Chalo” march.

Sealed on February 13, the Singhu and Tikri border points were a response to protesting farmers from Punjab launching the “Delhi Chalo” march. The farmers are pressing the BJP-led Centre for various demands, including a minimum support price (MSP) for crops and a farm loan waiver.

Thousands of farmers have been stationed on the Punjab-Haryana border near Ambala, approximately 200 km from Delhi, following disruptions to their march by security personnel. The situation remains tense as the farmers continue their protest against the government’s agricultural policies.
