Rajkot: Tamil Nadu cruised into the quarterfinals of the U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2025–26 with a dominant 134-run win over Odisha in the Elite Pre-Quarterfinal match held at Sanosara Cricket Ground ‘B’, here, on Saturday.
After being put in to bat, Tamil Nadu put up a commanding total of 366 for 5 in 50 overs, powered by brilliant centuries from Vineeth V K (139 off 104 balls) and Abhinav Kannan (101* off 74 balls). The duo’s partnership set the tone for a massive score, with Vineeth smashing 14 fours and 3 sixes, while Kannan remained unbeaten with 10 boundaries and 3 sixes.
For Odisha, Sambit K Beja was the most effective bowler, picking up 2 wickets for 53 runs in 10 overs, while Piyus Ranjan Mantri took one wicket for 79.
In reply, Odisha fought hard but were eventually bowled out for 232 in 47 overs. Aditya Anand top-scored with an unbeaten 89 off 87 balls, hitting 10 fours and 5 sixes, while Biswajeet Pradhan contributed with a steady 52 off 68 deliveries.
Tamil Nadu’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings, with B K Kishore claiming 3 for 27 from his 10 overs and Vineeth V K adding to his all-round performance by taking 2 wickets for 37 runs.
With this comprehensive win, Tamil Nadu advanced to the next stage of the U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy 2025–26, with a strong display of batting depth and disciplined bowling.
