Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Vidarbha outclass Odisha by eight wickets
Lucknow: Vidarbha produced a commanding all-round display to defeat Odisha by eight wickets in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium B, here on Sunday.
Put in to bat after winning the toss, Odisha posted 160/6 in their 20 overs. Sambit S Baral top-scored with a steady 46 off 38 balls, hitting six boundaries, while Prayash Kumar Singh provided late momentum with an unbeaten 40 off 26 deliveries, which included two fours and three sixes.
Vidarbha’s bowling attack was led by DG Nalkande, who picked up 2/48 from his four overs, while Harsh Dubey returned a tidy 1/26.
In response, Vidarbha chased down the target in just 14.5 overs, finishing at 163/2. Openers A Mokhade and Dhruv Shorey were in dominant form, stitching together a match-winning partnership. Mokhade smashed an unbeaten 73 off 40 balls, including five fours and five sixes, striking at 182.5. Shorey was equally impressive with an unbeaten 69 off 39 deliveries, hitting six fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 176.92.
For Odisha, Rajesh Mohanty claimed both wickets, finishing with figures of 2/32 from three overs.
