Bhubaneswar: The Perioperative Nurses’ Week was observed at SUM Ultimate Medicare Hospital. The Perioperative Nurses’ Week is organised during the week of November 13-19.
Perioperative nursing involves nurses who are fully dedicated to working with patients who are undergoing operative or other invasive procedures.
In this programme, N Ayesha, chief nursing superintendent of SUMUM, addressed the gathering on ‘Safe Surgery Together’ – the management of safe operations together.
She advised the nurses how to explain the patients and their relatives prior to the operation and prepare them both psychologically and medically for the operation.
Discussions were held on how to administer the right medication to the patient in the operation theatre and how to keep infections under control.
On this occasion, chief of medical services Brigadier Dr. Biraj Mohan Mishra, chairman of Infection Control department Dr. PK Panda and nursing in-charge Pooja Samal, senior doctors of other departments, workers and staff of nursing department were present.
