New Delhi: A recent surge in murders, including high-profile incidents, has raised concerns over law and order situation in Delhi and its neighbouring regions. Six murders within the past month, including the killings of Nafe Singh Rathee and Jai Kishan in Bahadurgarh, have raised questions regarding policing in the national capital region (NCR).
The NCR, encompassing Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad, Jhajjar and Sonipat, has witnessed a series of murders with a similar modus operandi, leading authorities to suspect gangster involvement. The first victim, Air India crew member Suraj Maan, was shot in Noida Sector 104 on January 19, revealing a link to jailed gangster Kapil Mann and a longstanding rivalry with another gangster, Parvesh Maan.
Delhi-based gangster Surajbhan, alias Ballu Pehalwan, was gunned down in Faridabad on January 31, further highlighting gang rivalries. Investigations into these cases, including the double murder in a Najafgarh salon in February, remain ongoing, with suspects identified but arrests pending.
The most recent incident on February 25, involving the murders of Rathee and Kishan, adds to the growing concerns. The assailants fired approximately 40 rounds at their SUV in Bahadurgarh, prompting an FIR and a search for suspects.
The Haryana Police, collaborating with counterparts in Delhi, Rajasthan and Punjab, suspects a contract killing due to personal enmity or property disputes.
