Lucknow: A six-year-old boy lost his life and five others were injured after a speeding car ran over pedestrians near Hanuman Temple on Kanpur Road in the Banthra area on Thursday night.
The incident took place around 8.30 pm. Pramod Kumar, a resident of Sahijanpur, had parked his motorcycle by the roadside to buy items from a nearby shop when a car coming from Lucknow towards Kanpur at high speed rammed into his bike.
Eyewitnesses said that when locals tried to stop the car, the driver allegedly sped up in an attempt to escape. In the process, the vehicle hit several people on the road.
Twelve-year-old Armaan was among those struck during the chaos. About 100 metres ahead, the car also hit Sadhana Patel (35), her mother-in-law Meena Devi (60), and her six-year-old son Dikshant.
Dikshant died in the accident, while the others sustained injuries. Further details about the condition of the injured were awaited. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
