Bhubaneswar: Pratik Dash, a National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteer from Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University, received the national NSS Award from the President Droupadi Murmu at a special function held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday.
Dash, who was earlier adjudged the best NSS volunteer in the State, was chosen for the honour for his exceptional service in spreading awareness about Covid-19 vaccine.

Dash was presented a medal and Rs one lakh in recognition of his work. “I am extremely delighted at this honour being bestowed on me and it will encourage me to serve the society more,” Dash said after receiving the award.
Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Nisith Pramanik, Youth Affairs Secretary Sanjay Kumar and senior officials were present. Prof. (Dr.) Amit Banerjee, Pro-Chancellor of SOA and Pratik’s father Chittaranjan Dash also attended the ceremony.
The NSS award is conferred on selected volunteers from across the country every year in recognition of their outstanding contribution towards voluntary community service.
