Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy: Maharashtra edge Odisha by one wicket in thriller

Rajkot: Maharashtra edged past Odisha by one wicket in a closely fought Senior Women’s One Day Trophy (Elite) match at Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground C, here on Wednesday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Odisha were bowled out for 198 in 49.4 overs. Madhuri Meheta anchored the innings with a solid 88 off 117 balls, hitting eight fours. She held the innings together even as wickets fell at the other end. Subhra N Swain chipped in with 30 off 38 balls, including four boundaries.

For Maharashtra, M R Magre was the pick of the bowlers with impressive figures of 4 for 40 in her 10 overs. A A Patil also bowled a tight spell, taking 2 for 27 in eight overs.

Chasing 199 for victory, Maharashtra reached 199 for 9 in 49 overs to seal the win with just one wicket in hand. A A Patil led the charge with a crucial unbeaten 78 off 80 balls, striking 10 fours. Tejaswini Batwal supported her with 33 off 72 balls.

For Odisha, Sushree Dibyadarshini returned figures of 3 for 41 in her 10 overs, while Rima Laxmi Ekka claimed 2 for 32 in 10 overs. Despite their efforts, Odisha fell just short as Maharashtra crossed the line in a tense finish.
