Subrat Kumar Maharana, RPF constable of Bhubaneswar Railway Station of East Coast Railway has been nominated to receive the Railway Minister’s Jeewan Raksha Padak for the year 2020.
Maharana had saved a lady passenger who was trying to board Puri-Sambalpur Inter-City Express on February 15 2020. She fell down within the gap of platform and the train.
But because of the alertness and prompt action by Maharana, the lady passenger was picked up before falling on to the railway track.
The prompt action by Maharana without caring about his personal safety could help save a life.
East Coast Railway general manager Roop Narayan Sunkar congratulated Maharana for his prestigious award and on duty alertness. Maharana will receive a cash award of Rs 1 lakh.
