Bhubaneswar: Odisha bowlers produced a disciplined performance to put the team in command against Assam on the opening day of their Col CK Nayudu Trophy (U23 Men) match at KIIT Cricket Stadium here on Monday.
Opting to bat first, Assam ended Day 1 at 200 for 9 in 71.2 overs, with Rajveer Singh holding the innings together with a gritty unbeaten 94 off 184 balls, laced with 10 boundaries. Kabir Hassan Deshmukh chipped in with a patient 37 off 96 deliveries, but the rest of the batting faltered against Odisha’s tight bowling.
For Odisha, Ritesh Priyaranjan was the standout performer, claiming 4 wickets for 35 runs in 16 overs, while Md Danish provided solid support with 2 for 28 from 12 overs.
At stumps, Assam relied heavily on Rajveer Singh’s resilience to push their total to 200, as Odisha bowlers kept control throughout the day with disciplined line and length.
