Bhubaneswar: Prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects in Odisha, worth over Rs 19,600 crore. Addressing the gathering, he also virtually flagged off two passenger trains and a freight train, and emphasising the significance of these projects in the sectors of railways, oil & gas, road, transport & highways and atomic energy.
During his address, Modi congratulated the people of Odisha, highlighting the substantial increase in the railway budget for the state over the last decade. He also underlined the remarkable improvements in rail-highway-port connectivity.
Among the key projects, Modi dedicated the 162 Km Bansapani-Daitari-Tomka- Jakhapura Double Rail Line and Khurda Road-Barang third rail line, aimed at bolstering transportation efficiency of ore and minerals. He also inaugurated the CONCOR Container Depot in Kalinga Nagar and the foundation stones for various workshops.
The prime minister also virtually flagged off new train services between Puri and Anand Vihar (New Delhi) and Haridaspur to Paradeep, extending passenger train services to Kendrapara district. Additionally, a container train from Jajpur to Dadri, Uttar Pradesh was inaugurated.
Dignitaries including Raghubar Das, Governor, Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, chief minister, Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan, union minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Bishweshar Tudu, union minister of State for Tribal Affairs & Jal Shakti attended the event at Chandikhol, with MPs/MLAs participating through video conferencing at various locations.
