Bhubaneswar: A one-day orientation programme on neo financial management for accountants working in the 115 urban local bodies was held here, recently.
Speaking on the occasion G Mathi Vathanan, principal secretary, Housing and Urban Development department told that transparent, disciplined and proper financial management is the key for development.
The expectation of general public is very high. We all have to rise to the occasion without any hesitation, he said.
He added that ULBs are to receive 15th Finance Commission grant where the role of accountants becomes important, and they should rise to the occasion.
There is a timeline for release of payments and in case of any deviation it would be seriously viewed, cautioned Vathanan.
Further while emphasising on implementation of MUKTA action plan for 2023-24 in 115 ULBs and expenditures, he advised on submission of utilisation certificates in due time.
