Bhubaneswar: A one-year-old boy was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after contracting Covid-19, but he has beaten the virus after spending eight days on a ventilator.
Aman Patnaik, from Nilagiri area of Balasore district, was admitted to SUM Hospital here on September 21, while running high temperature and having seizures as well.
“It was a challenge for the medical team to treat the baby and he was shifted to a ventilator the next day,” a doctor who treated him said.
As his anxious parents waited outside the hospital praying for their child’s life, Aman battled Covid inside with the medical team making every effort to bring him around.
His condition improved subsequently and he was taken off the ventilator on September 29 and was put on oxygen support. He was finally discharged from the hospital on Thursday.
Aman’s father, Jayanta Patnaik thanked the hospital’s medical team for saving his son’s life.
