Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has predicted light to moderate rainfall in multiple districts of Odisha over the next two days.
On Tuesday, rainfall is expected in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
For Wednesday, the forecast indicates rainfall in Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
The IMD has issued a Yellow Warning for rain in Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Koraput districts on Tuesday.
Last week’s incessant rains caused significant damage to standing crops in the state, with harvested paddy left in fields suffering extensive losses due to unseasonal showers. In response, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has directed District Collectors to monitor the weather closely and take necessary precautionary measures.
Post-Christmas, a drop in night temperatures by 2°C to 4°C is expected, potentially bringing a fresh cold wave to the state, according to the IMD.
