Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday felicitated Indian Under-18 Girls’ rugby team which won silver medal at Asia Under-18 Girls’ Rugby Sevens Championship 2021, held at Tashkent in Uzbekistan.

He interacted with the team members and awarded them with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh each for finishing second in the event.
“Glad to felicitate the victorious U18 Girls Rugby team on winning silver medal at the Asia U-18 Girls Rugby 7s Championship 2021 held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. I am sure this is the start of a new journey, you all will make history. Wish the team very best,” tweeted the CM’s official Twitter handle.
A total of five countries from across Asia – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), India and the hosts, Uzbekistan – took part in the championship.
