After witnessing incessant rainfall last week which caused flood-like situation in many parts of the state, Odisha is again bracing for heavy downpour from September 26.

A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over east-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal on September 25, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.

Under its influence, a fresh spell of heavy rainfall is expected in Odisha from September 26, ANI quoted Umashankar Das, senior scientist, IMD, Odisha as saying.

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert warning for 12 districts in north coastal districts forecasting light to heavy rainfall during the next 10 days.

The districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Nuapada, Bolangir and Kalahandi are all expected to experience isolated heavy showers for the next 24 hours.

The rough weather is likely to subside for a short period, but will gain pace yet again over the weekend due to the formation of another cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal by Saturday. This will be the sixth cyclonic circulation in the state since the last week of August.

Though the formation of the system is quite common, the frequency at which they have been originating of late is very unusual, reported The Weather Channel.

As per the IMD, the new cyclonic circulation will form over east-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal on Saturday, and then track west-northwestwards to reach the Odisha coast during the subsequent 48 hours.
