Vadodara: Odisha began their campaign in the men’s U23 State A Trophy 2025–26 with a dominating seven-wicket victory over Goa at the GSFC Cricket Ground, Vadodara on Sunday.
After winning the toss and opting to field, Odisha’s bowlers put up a disciplined performance to bowl Goa out for 166 in 36.4 overs. Despite a brilliant counterattacking knock from Sanath Nevagi, who smashed 91 runs off 78 balls with eight fours and five sixes, Goa failed to build lasting partnerships. Aman Dhooper contributed with 26 runs from 30 balls, but the rest of the lineup faltered against Odisha’s tight bowling.
For Odisha, Sayed Tufayl Ahmad was the standout bowler, returning figures of 4 for 9 in 5 overs with two maidens, while Ashutosh Chhuria supported well with 3 for 42 in 7.4 overs.
Chasing 167 for victory, Odisha’s top order made light work of the target, reaching 168 for 3 in just 28.5 overs. P Sasanka anchored the innings with a patient 56 off 70 balls (9 fours), while Om T Munde played an aggressive hand, scoring 53 off 56 balls, which included five fours and a six. The duo’s solid partnership ensured a comfortable chase.
Goa’s Manish P Kakode picked up 2 for 60 from 10 overs, while Aman Dhooper took one wicket for 22 runs.
