Odisha announces revised scholarship guidelines for Odia language studies

BHUBANESWAR: The Higher Education Department of Odisha has issued revised guidelines for the Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Bhasabruti Scheme under the Mukhyamantri Medhabi Chhatra Protsahan Yojana. These updated regulations will come into effect from the 2024-25 academic year.

This initiative aims to promote academic excellence in Odia language studies, encouraging meritorious students to pursue higher education in the language at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Universities and colleges offering Odia courses have been instructed to submit course details and AISHE codes for registration on the Odisha State Scholarship Portal.

Scholarship Amount

  • Undergraduate Level: ₹20,000 (one-time financial grant).
  • Postgraduate Level: ₹30,000 (one-time financial grant).

Eligibility Criteria

For Undergraduate Students:

  • Students (irrespective of domicile) must secure at least 70% marks in the +2 Examination conducted by CHSE, Odisha, or an equivalent board.
  • Must enroll in a +3 Arts program with Odia as Honours/Core/Major subject in universities, degree colleges, or autonomous colleges in Odisha or outside the state.

For Postgraduate Students:

  • Students (irrespective of domicile) must secure at least 60% marks in Odia Honours/Core/Major during their +3 Arts course.
  • Must take admission to M.A. (Odia) courses in recognized universities, degree colleges, or autonomous colleges in Odisha or outside the state.

How to Apply

Eligible candidates can register through the Odisha State Scholarship Portal. The initiative seeks to inspire a new generation of scholars dedicated to the preservation and growth of the Odia language.
