Cuttack: The fourth day of the OCA U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament (2nd Phase) produced several dominant performances across venues, with Kandhamal, Rayagada, Bhubaneswar-B, KIIT and Sundargarh recording convincing victories, while the Keonjhar-Dhenkanal match was washed out.
Kandhamal thrash Sonepur by 9 wickets
At the Hi-Tech Medical Ground, Kandhamal cruised to a nine-wicket win over Sonepur. Sonepur were bundled out for 144 in 47.1 overs, with Arman Mallik (45) top-scoring. Ayush Pradhan (4/11) and Anuj K. Yadav (3/22) starred with the ball. Kandhamal’s chase was clinical as Yadav (73) and Pradhan (65) guided them home in just 26.2 overs.
Rayagada overpower Kalahandi
Rayagada defeated Kalahandi by six wickets at Adashpur Ground. Kalahandi managed just 66 runs, with Manohar S. Rao (4/12) and Damburudhar Kadraka (3/24) leading the destruction. Barji Goutam Kumar (43*) anchored Rayagada’s reply as they chased the target in 20.2 overs.
Bhubaneswar-B cruise past Sambalpur-B
At Bidanasi Ground, Bhubaneswar-B eased past Sambalpur-B by eight wickets. Sambalpur-B were dismissed for 66, with Mrutunjay Ray (4/22) and Midhansu Das (3/9) doing the damage. Bhubaneswar-B chased down the target in 12.2 overs, powered by Saiditya Mohanty’s unbeaten 29.
KIIT hammer Sambalpur-A
KIIT registered a 134-run win (DLS method) against Sambalpur-A at Ravenshaw-II Ground. Batting first, KIIT scored 227/9, with Shreejeet Bhuyan (39) and Bibekananda Soy (39) contributing well. In reply, Sambalpur-A folded for 85, as Sai Sarthak Sahoo (4/24) and Bhuyan (3/17) bowled superb spells.
Sundargarh dominate Gajapati
Sundargarh produced the most commanding performance of the day, defeating Gajapati by a massive 285 runs at Nimpur Ground. Batting first, Sundargarh piled up 334/8, led by Aditya Sagar (79) and Neil N. Mohanty (68). In response, Gajapati were bowled out for just 49, with Ajay Mahato (4/8) and Raja Pandit (3/17) shining with the ball.
Cuttack-B edge Kendrapara in a thriller
In a rain-hit encounter at Jatni, Cuttack-B clinched a one-run win (DLS method) over Kendrapara. Cuttack-B made 128, while Ayush K. Palai (4/24) bowled well for Kendrapara. In reply, Kendrapara managed 74/5, falling just short as Preetish Mishra (2/14) held his nerve at the death.
