Cuttack: Rourkela, Cuttack-A and Bhubaneswar-A registered commanding victories in the Preliminary League (1st Phase) of the OCA U-16 inter-district cricket tournament 2025 on Thursday, while Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur earned hard-fought wins.

At Ravenshaw-I Ground, Cuttack-A dominated Koraput with a comprehensive 183-run victory. Abhisek Kalia anchored the innings with a fluent 110 off 116 balls, helping his side post 267/9. In reply, Koraput faltered to 84 all out in 26.2 overs, undone by Kaushik R. Das (4/18) and Satyansh Sharma (3/5).

Over at Nimpur Ground, Rourkela outclassed Ganjam by a huge 217-run margin. The highlight was Prachet Singh’s brilliant 142 off 124 balls, which powered Rourkela to 272/7. Later, Amarnath Banerjee ripped through Ganjam’s batting with an outstanding spell of 6-3-8-5.

At Railway Ground, Jatni, Bhubaneswar-A produced the most dominant performance of the day, crushing Malkangiri by 290 runs. Mrutyunjaya Tripathy top-scored with a quickfire 82 off 66 balls as Bhubaneswar piled up 338/7. Their bowlers then dismantled Malkangiri for just 48.

In a low-scoring thriller at the Sunshine Ground, Jagatsinghpur edged past Boudh by 19 runs. Despite a seven-wicket haul by Sheeben Majhi (7/20) for Boudh, Soheb Khan’s all-round effort — scoring 22 and claiming 6/39 — ensured Jagatsinghpur held on for victory.

Meanwhile, at Gatiroutpatna, Jajpur overcame Bhadrak by 25 runs in a tight clash. Ansul Barik starred for Jajpur with a fine all-round display, contributing 27 runs and picking up 3/13.
