OCA inter-district school cricket tournament: Jharsuguda, Sambalpur-A, Cuttack-A and Deogarh register wins; Khordha–Gajapati ends in tie

Bhubaneswar: Several closely contested and one-sided encounters were witnessed on Day 5 of the third phase of the OCA Inter District School Cricket Tournament 2025–26, with Jharsuguda, Sambalpur-A, Cuttack-A and Deogarh posting victories, while the match between Khordha and Gajapati ended in a thrilling tie.

At Kuranga Sasan Ground, Jharsuguda defeated Dhenkanal by 60 runs. Batting first, Jharsuguda were bowled out for 128 in 41 overs, with Wasil Khan top-scoring with a composed 56 off 65 balls. Yuvraj Singh added 31. Dhenkanal’s bowlers were led by Krushant Behera, who claimed 4 for 31. In reply, Dhenkanal were bundled out for 68 in 23.2 overs. Shreryansh Pujari picked up 3 for 12, while Wasil Khan chipped in with a wicket to cap a fine all-round performance.

The match between Khordha and Gajapati at BJB School Ground produced a nail-biting tie. Khordha posted 199 for 5 in 50 overs after batting first, with Saroj Rana scoring an unbeaten 48 and Tatsat Jayasingh contributing 41. James Lima took 2 for 17 for Gajapati. Gajapati matched the target exactly, finishing on 199 for 9, riding on a brilliant unbeaten 113 off 145 balls from James Lima, who also stood out with the ball. The match ended in a tie, making Lima the standout performer.

At Adashpur Ground, Sambalpur-A secured a 35-run win over Bargarh in Match No. 101. Sambalpur-A were bowled out for 128 in 25.1 overs, with Yuvraj Singh scoring an impressive 71 off 63 balls. Bargarh bowlers Jasan P Kisan (5 for 12) and Pratik Sharma (3 for 4) did significant damage. Bargarh’s chase faltered as they were dismissed for 93 in 33.2 overs. Manindar Singh starred with the ball for Sambalpur-A, claiming 5 for 30 to seal the win.

At Gatirout Patna Ground, Cuttack-A dominated Mayurbhanj with a 90-run victory. Cuttack-A scored 184 for 7 in 36 overs, with Priyanshu P Samal making 55 and Anshuman Patanaik adding a quick 38. Mayurbhanj were bowled out for 94 in 23.1 overs, as Anshuman Patanaik delivered a superb spell of 5 for 10, supported by Durgasish Behera’s two wickets.

At DRIEMS Cricket Ground, Deogarh beat KIIT by 53 runs. Deogarh were dismissed for 106 in 29.2 overs, with Shreeram Pradhan scoring 22. KIIT’s chase collapsed at 53 all out in 16.5 overs, as Jyoti Rout produced a match-winning spell of 5 for 19, earning the standout performer award.
