OCA inter-district school cricket tournament: Bargarh and Puri register convincing wins

Cuttack: Bargarh and Puri produced dominant performances to seal emphatic victories in their respective matches on day six of the third phase of the OCA Inter-District School Cricket Tournament (2025–26), played in the one-day format on Monday.

At the Sunshine Cricket Ground, Bargarh chased down a modest target with ease to defeat Gajapati by eight wickets. After opting to field, Bargarh’s bowlers set the tone early by dismissing Gajapati for 103 in 26.5 overs. James Lima top-scored for Gajapati with a patient 45 off 72 balls, but lacked support from the other end.

Vaibhav Patel was the pick of the bowlers, returning impressive figures of 3 for 17 from seven overs, while Jasan P Kisan also made an impact with 3 for 9 in 4.5 overs. In reply, Bargarh cruised to 106 for 2 in 23.5 overs. Mayank Agrawal remained unbeaten on 32 off 67 deliveries, anchoring the chase, while Devansh Singh chipped in with a brisk 23 off 26 balls. Bargarh crossed the line comfortably to secure an eight-wicket win. Vaibhav Patel was named the stand-out performer for his match-winning spell .

Meanwhile, at the Barabati Stadium, Puri delivered a clinical all-round performance to outclass Malkangiri by a massive margin of 169 runs. After opting to bat first, Puri posted a competitive 214 all out in 39.2 overs, riding on a solid knock of 76 off 82 balls by P Hrishikesh Rao. Amrit Mohanty added useful momentum in the middle order with 34 off 27 deliveries.

Malkangiri’s bowlers were led by Mehen Muduli, who claimed 3 for 25, while Sahil Sethy picked up two wickets. However, the chase never gained momentum as Malkangiri were bundled out for just 45 in 19.2 overs. Nishant Ray was the lone batter to reach double figures with 17 off 48 balls.

Puri’s bowling attack was relentless, with G Pradeep producing a devastating spell of 5 for 27 in 9.2 overs. He received strong support from Agneerish Sahoo, who finished with 3 for 8.
