New Delhi: The ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule has come into force in Delhi along with a ban on the entry of non-Delhi private vehicles that do not meet BS-VI emission norms, as authorities intensified efforts to curb rising air pollution in the national capital.
Under the new measures, fuel stations across the city have stopped supplying petrol and diesel to vehicles that do not have a valid Pollution Under Control certificate. The enforcement is being carried out using automatic number plate recognition cameras, audio alerts at petrol pumps, and on-ground support from the police.
Officials said around 580 police personnel have been deployed at 126 checkpoints, including key entry points along the city borders, to ensure strict compliance with the restrictions.
Teams from the Delhi Transport Department have also been stationed at fuel pumps and border checkpoints to monitor implementation and take action against violators.
The entry ban does not apply to vehicles powered by CNG or electricity, public transport vehicles, or those involved in essential services and the supply of essential goods.
As part of the GRAP IV restrictions, vehicles transporting construction materials have also been barred from entering Delhi until further orders.
