Bhubaneswar: The importance of nutrition in healthcare was underlined at a day long programme organised by SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) recently to mark the Rashtriya Poshan Maah observed in the month of September every year under the Poshan Abhiyaan.
The hospital organised the first ‘SUNNO-SUM Ultimate National Nutrition Orientation’ on the subject ‘Clinical nutrition in action: Applying evidence based insight’, which was attended by several experts.
Dr Swetapadma Dash, chief executive officer of SUMUM, who welcomed the guests, underscored the importance of nutrition in the treatment of patients.
Dr Banambar Ray, head of the department of Critical Care, and Dr PK Panda, medical superintendent, also addressed the programme. The experts who attended the programme included Bhaskar Dey, principal, Naseema Institute of Speech and Hearing, Bengaluru, Dr Arpita Priyadarshini, professor and head of department of Physiology, Sri Jagannath Medical College, Puri, Dr Ashish Yadav, LLRM Medical College, Meerut and Sandhyarani Rout, consultant (Nutrition), National Health Mission. Sushree Sangeeta Jena, senior clinical nutritionist at the hospital, provided an overview of the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
