Bhubaneswar: A comprehensive discussion on bone tumours and related interventions took centre stage at a mid-term Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme organised by the Musculoskeletal Society India (MSS) in collaboration with the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here on Sunday.
The day-long seminar, themed “MSK Tumours Imaging and Interventions,” brought together experts to delve into the latest advancements in imaging technology and approaches to addressing bone tumours. Key topics included the significance of radiographs in diagnosis and the role of imaging modalities in differentiating benign bone tumours.
Dr Jayaraj Govindaraj, president of the Musculoskeletal Society and co-organising chairman of the event, emphasised the transformative impact of nuclear scan technology in bone tumour diagnosis, stressing the importance of continuous knowledge enhancement, especially among students.
Organising chairman of the CME, Dr Satya SG Mohapatra, highlighted various aspects of bone tumour diagnosis and benign tumours during the seminar, underscoring the need for timely and accurate diagnosis for effective treatment.
Dr Adya Kinkar Panda, organizing secretary and Dr Dharmendra K Singh, MSS secretary, also contributed insights during the seminar, which saw participation from experts across the country.
Dr Panda emphasised the higher vulnerability of children to bone tumours but reassured that timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment could lead to complete recovery. He highlighted the presence of a pediatric oncology department at IMS and SUM Hospital dedicated to addressing such cases.
