MUMBAI: To accommodate New Year’s Eve celebrations, Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) will operate special late-night local trains, ensuring smooth travel for revellers, reported The Times of India.
On the CR Main line, a late-night train will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 1:30 a.m. on January 1, reaching Kalyan at 3:00 a.m. Similarly, a train will depart from Kalyan at 1:30 a.m. and arrive at CSMT by 3:00 a.m.
On the Harbour line, the final train from CSMT will leave at 1:30 a.m., reaching Panvel by 2:50 a.m. In the reverse direction, a train from Panvel will depart at 1:30 a.m., arriving at CSMT at 2:50 a.m. These trains will stop at all stations along their routes.
For Western Railway commuters, late-night trains will run from Churchgate to Virar at 1:15 a.m., 2:00 a.m., 2:30 a.m., and 3:25 a.m. The return services from Virar to Churchgate are scheduled at 12:15 a.m., 12:45 a.m., 1:40 a.m., and 3:05 a.m., with stops at all stations.
WR chief spokesperson Vineet Abhishek confirmed these arrangements, emphasizing the railways’ commitment to providing safe and convenient travel for passengers during the festive season.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and take advantage of these special services to celebrate New Year’s Eve hassle-free.
