Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) seized cocaine, mephedrone and codeine valued at Rs 1.65 crore and arrested six individuals, including two Nigerian nationals, in a major operation on New Year’s Eve, an official reported.
In the first case, the Ghatkopar unit arrested Sanjib Sarkar (40) from Kurla East with 396 grams of cocaine worth ₹1.18 crore. The second case saw Nayum Shaikh (28) apprehended in Govandi with 900 bottles of codeine valued at Rs 4.5 lakh. In the third incident, two Nigerian nationals, including a woman, were caught with 170 grams of mephedrone worth Rs 42.5 lakh.
The ANC’s crackdown highlights its commitment to tackling the drug menace in Mumbai. Last year, the ANC seized 3,492.867 kilograms of narcotics valued at Rs 60.63 crore and arrested 184 individuals across 93 cases.
