New Delhi: Security has been tightened across the national capital on Thursday as Delhi prepares for the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is scheduled to land in the evening for a two-day visit. Police officials said the location of his stay has been kept confidential due to strict security protocols.

According to senior officers, a multi-layered security grid has been activated and every movement of the Russian president will be monitored by multiple agencies working in coordination. More than 5,000 Delhi Police personnel will be on duty, supported by central security units.

Top officials are overseeing route security, traffic management and the sanitisation of all areas expected to be part of Putin’s itinerary. All VVIP routes have already been secured, and traffic advisories will be issued periodically to ease commuter movement. Anti-drone systems will also be deployed along sensitive stretches.

SWAT teams, snipers, anti-terror squads and quick-reaction units have been stationed at strategic points across the city as part of the comprehensive security plan. High-resolution CCTV cameras and advanced technical surveillance systems have been activated to monitor all zones linked to the visit.

Officials said certain areas may see traffic restrictions and limited pedestrian movement, though updates will be issued in advance to prevent major disruptions.
