Mumbai: A 25-year-old man, held for theft, took a daring leap from the second floor of a suburban Mumbai police station during questioning, resulting in his hospitalisation with injuries, confirmed police on Wednesday.
The incident unfolded late Tuesday night when the individual, identified as Samir Arif Siddique, was detained by the police on suspicion of mobile phone theft and was brought to the Kandivali police station for interrogation.
As the questioning progressed, the unexpected happened when Siddique, held in the detection room on the police station’s second floor, made a sudden jump, as reported by the official.
The consequence of the daring escape attempt left Siddique with fractures on his hand. Currently, he is receiving treatment at the state-run JJ Hospital in central Mumbai, said a police official.
